Winter is here and it’s often a time of year that we find it hard to stay moving. Here are 5 tips to help you get motivated and stay on track:
Tip #1 – Plan Smart
Don’t set yourself up for failure with “quick fixes”, think of how you can make small changes to your lifestyle and set realistic goals. Set yourself a deadline to make yourself accountable and don’t forget to reward yourself once you reach your goal! Lots of small changes will add up and are more likely to become part of your life for long term results.
Tip #2 – Hydrate Creatively
We all know we need to drink more water, but it can get a bit boring so add some creativity to keep your drinks interesting! Have a little box in your fridge just for your water bottle, sliced lemon, ginger, cucumber mint, and my favourite, strawberries! Pop into your bottle in the morning and re-fill throughout the day.
Tip #3 – Pre-pay and Book
If you book and pre-pay for your exercise in advance you are immediately accountable and that little bit more motivated. This is one of the best ways to keep your exercise routine on track. At IXL we have the same students every week, they are accountable to us and to the friends they make at the studio. You are the most important date in your diary!
Tip #4 – Get your gear ready the night before
No excuses if you didn’t have time to find your new favourite leggings. Get your bag packed if you are going after work OR put your workout gear ready to put on as soon as you wake up and never miss that early morning class again. Have a bag JUST for your exercise gear and always have it packed with what you need. No turning up with two tops and no leggings!
Tip #5 – Do something good for the inside as well
While we are all focused on how we look on the outside, the inside is just if not more important in feeling good. Make your exercise something that makes your life feel better on the inside. DO SOMETHING you love and you’re more likely to keep going back. Don’t be afraid to try something different until you find what works for you.
